Trafford council tax will increase by 7.49 percent for the year 2025/26. Green bin collections will cost £45 extra yearly. The government allowed the council to raise taxes more than usual. Usually, a local vote is needed for increases over 4.99 percent.

The council requested special financial support from the Department of Housing. Trafford’s budget gap grew recently, going from £9.8 million to £12 million.

Councillors will vote on the budget soon, with the council meeting now scheduled for March 26 after being postponed earlier this month. Allotment rents may increase by 30 percent due to the council’s financial state. About 1,500 plots exist across Trafford.

Full plot rents could jump to about £139, up from the current rent of about £104. Half plots may rise to around £69; they currently cost around £52. People over 60 will still get half off.

Marriage fees at Sale Town Hall will change, with weekday ceremonies costing more, at about £197, up from about £192. Friday and Saturday mornings will also cost more, around £277, currently costing around £272.

Saturday afternoons will increase to about £367, from the current cost of around £357. Waterside Arts Centre’s Sunday and holiday fees will also go up to around £542, from about £522.

Marriages at other approved places will also cost more. A Saturday daytime wedding will cost about £477. Getting married weekdays before 3:30 pm is cheaper but will still cost around £427.
