Cornwall: A “to let” sign at Trewinney Cemetery has upset many locals. They feel it’s disrespectful to those buried there. The sign is right at the entrance, close to graves.

The Cornwall Council put up the sign as part of a plan to rent out unused buildings. They’re trying to lease ten sites, including chapels and old toilet blocks. These buildings need repairs and are not in use anymore.

People are not happy with how the council is handling this. The sign at the cemetery says “TO LET Disused Chapel / Building to let.” It’s been criticized for being too blunt and out of place.

James Mustoe, a local councillor, has asked the council to move the sign. He understands the need to lease unused properties but thinks the approach is too harsh. He’s heard from many residents who feel the same way.

Mustoe pointed out that the property being advertised is just a rundown shed. He’s been in touch with the council multiple times, urging them to find a better spot for the sign.

We’ve reached out to Cornwall Council for their side of the story.
