Coventry: Surveys are starting for a big project at City Arcade. This is part of a £450 million regeneration plan. City Arcade closed for the last time on January 27.

The area is blocked off now as part of the City Centre South redevelopment. Contractors will be on-site soon to do some non-intrusive surveys before demolition begins.

Pedestrians can’t access City Arcade from Queen Victoria Road to Shelton Square anymore. Shops, including the old Argos, will be demolished in June.

Andy Fancy from The Hill Group is leading the project. He believes this redevelopment will transform Coventry. The first phase will include around 1,000 new homes.

Cllr Jim O’Boyle mentioned that this project is crucial for making the city vibrant and busy. He’s excited that work will start soon, bringing new homes and shops to the area.

Mr. Fancy also emphasized that they will ensure residents and visitors can access their favorite shops during the project.
