Saltash Leisure Centre will become a multi-purpose community hub, enhancing local services and facilities for residents in Cornwall.
Saltash: Exciting changes are coming to the Saltash Leisure Centre. It will be transformed into a multi-purpose community hub, the first of its kind in Cornwall. This project is a partnership between Cornwall Council and GLL, the organization that runs the centre.
The leisure centre has improved a lot since the pandemic. New health and fitness programs are available. More schools and clubs are using the facility, and membership numbers are up. There’s even a new café, and local health providers are working closely with the centre.
By the end of this year, the centre will have updated changing rooms. It will also offer local registrar services and a safe space for community activities. Council staff will have a base there too.
Construction will start in late spring and will happen in phases. The leisure centre will stay open during this time, and customers will be updated on the progress.
James Curry from GLL expressed excitement about this project. He believes it will bring many community services together under one roof, making it more efficient and sustainable.
Councillor Carol Mould also shared her enthusiasm. She thinks this innovative model will help secure the future of the leisure centre and improve access to important services for Saltash residents.
