A young farmer on trial for rape says the woman initiated everything and stopped when she changed her mind during a festival in Cornwall.
Cornwall: A young farmer is on trial for allegedly raping a woman at Rattler Fest. Kieran Seagar, 26, claims the woman initiated everything and they stopped when she changed her mind.
Seagar is accused of raping the woman while she was very drunk at the festival near Truro. He is currently facing one count of rape at Truro Crown Court.
During his defense, Seagar said the woman was friendly and dancing. He claims she initiated flirting and kissing, and they both agreed to go to his tent.
He described himself as “merry” drunk but in control. He said they were kissing and that the decision to go to the tent was mutual.
Inside the tent, Seagar claims the woman asked him to engage sexually. He said they had consensual intercourse, but she later changed her mind and wanted to dance instead.
Seagar stated they shared a laugh when the chair collapsed. He insists he believed she was consenting to sex and denied that she told him no.
The trial is ongoing, and more details will emerge as it continues.
