Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating a Helston care home amid allegations of inadequate care and abuse towards residents.
Helston: A care home is under police investigation due to safeguarding fears. The Parc VRO residential home in Mawgan is being looked into by Devon and Cornwall Police. They are checking claims that the care provided was not good enough, leading to physical and psychological abuse of residents.
A whistleblower reached out to CornwallLive, saying two carers were suspended without pay. A third carer was also suspended after complaints from residents’ families. This investigation started after relatives reportedly installed a secret camera in a resident’s room due to worries about care quality.
One resident had to be moved urgently to another care home due to safeguarding protocols. This happened on January 14. The whistleblower emphasized the importance of this information for families with vulnerable members at Parc VRO.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they are investigating. They mentioned they are in the early stages and are working with Cornwall Council and the Care Quality Commission. So far, no further concerns have been raised, and no arrests have been made.
We reached out to the care home for a comment, but they declined to respond.
