Police have arrested over 270 drivers in Coventry and the West Midlands for various offences, including drink and drug driving during the festive season
They used tips and intelligence to find drivers under the influence. They also checked vehicles for insurance, tax, and MOT. It was a month-long effort that led to 272 arrests in total.
The offences included speeding and using a mobile phone while driving. Those caught face serious consequences like driving bans, hefty fines, or even jail time. West Midlands Police are serious about keeping the roads safe.
Superintendent Gareth Mason said it’s selfish to drive under the influence. It puts innocent lives at risk. He noted that many ignored warnings and will now face the music.
Mason emphasized that they want to prevent law-breaking. Their work isn’t just during the holidays; it’s ongoing. They’re committed to making the roads safer for everyone.
