Nottinghamshire will fix potholes with extra money. They will spend £3.3 million. The government gave the council more funding, and the council received it for the next financial year.

Leaders decided not to save the money but want to fix roads right away. Councillor Smith wants to use it now, saying residents want better roads.

The council already planned projects for the year, budgeting £22.6 million for roads. They will resurface Lowdham Lane in Woodborough, and Plains Road in Mapperley will also be resurfaced.

The extra money means faster road repairs. Projects planned later could happen sooner, and the council will publish a list of projects, sharing it by the end of February.

Councillor Foale said Labour deserves credit. She claims their funding balanced the council’s budget and Labour gives more money to Nottinghamshire.

Councillor Clarke believes lobbying secured the money. Residents care most about road conditions, but he says roads won’t improve overnight; roads needing repair should become fewer.
