New Look has announced the closure of its St Austell store, part of a larger plan affecting many UK locations. This decision follows ongoing financial challenges.
The brand has struggled financially, with about a quarter of its 364 stores at risk. This means around 91 stores could close when their leases end.
The St Austell store will shut down on Tuesday, March 4. A sign in the window thanks shoppers and includes a QR code for online shopping.
New Look has already reduced its number of stores from nearly 600 in 2018. They have restructured twice in six years, and now operate on shorter leases.
Analysts expect more closures as financial changes take effect in April. These changes include higher national insurance rates and increased business rates for retailers.
A New Look spokesperson mentioned that store closures can happen due to landlord requests or unviable locations. They are still looking for new opportunities and investing in existing stores.
