A new facility in Coventry supports young people with disabilities, keeping them close to family while helping them thrive.
The home can care for up to four kids at once. It’s the first of its kind in Coventry, built specifically for children with disabilities. The goal is to keep them happy and settled near their loved ones.
The facility opened last December after a thorough look at the needs of local kids. It aims to prevent them from being sent far away for care, which can be costly and less personal. Councillor Patricia Seaman emphasized the importance of keeping kids close to home.
Recent figures show that the cost of placing kids in external homes has jumped by 57%. This new home is part of a bigger plan to improve care in Coventry. It puts kids and families first, which is what really matters.
Cllr Seaman mentioned that this home supports the city’s efforts to care for children needing extra help. Kids are happiest when they’re near their homes and friends. This new facility will provide that support network.
She also pointed out that building their own homes makes financial sense. More importantly, it’s the right thing to do for the kids. The home looks fantastic, and the caring staff will truly make a difference in their lives.
Sukriti Sen, the Director of Children and Education Services, added that this home will offer stability during tough times. It will help kids settle in quickly and provide continuity of care.
