Exciting news! A new beach is coming to the UK’s largest wave park, just a short drive from Coventry, enhancing the surfing experience for everyone.
Coventry: A new beach is on the way for the UK’s largest wave park, located just 30 minutes from Coventry. The planning permission is already in place for this massive project in Coleshill, North Warwickshire.
This wave park is set to feature a 5.4-acre surfing lagoon. It will create waves as high as 2 meters! Plus, there are some exciting new features being added.
The North Warwickshire Borough Council approved changes to the surf house, lagoon, and landscaping. One of the big updates is the addition of a western beach at the lagoon.
In 2020, full planning permission was granted for this recreational surfing center. Since then, a few minor tweaks have been made, and the access road is already built.
The latest application aims to add the beach and remove the central pier. This change will help create a more natural look for the lagoon’s western shore.
They also reviewed the lighting plans and made some minor adjustments to the clubhouse. These changes are all about improving the operation of the wave-making equipment.
According to the officer report, the amendments won’t harm the project. The lagoon’s size and location remain the same, and the clubhouse design is still intact.
Overall, the changes are seen as reasonable and won’t significantly impact the original plan. The County Ecologist has given the green light, so the amendments were approved.
