A rugby club in Rochdale plans another music event. About 2,000 people may attend this summer, however neighbors complained about noise from the last one.

Mayfield Rugby Club held their first event in August 2024, and they want another on August 9, 2025. Locals voiced concerns about the new event. A licensing hearing occurred on February 7.

Simon Colderley represented Adored Events at the hearing. His company handles events around Manchester. Adored Events requested a license to sell alcohol and play music. Live events would happen from midday to 9:30 p.m. at the club.

Rosalie Shiels and Mrs. Singh live on Keswick Street. They said the 2024 event kept them awake and they worry about crime at the next festival. Shiels’ house faces the pitches.

She felt forced to leave home due to noise and questioned why she should suffer for profit. Shiels claimed an afterparty lasted until 3 a.m. in 2024. Singh said residents have other club issues, including naked people and late events.

Colderley said the 2024 event had no issues and noted some complaints were about other club events not connected to his company. He stated they run similar events well, and they are professional and safe. Ample security staff will be present.

Colderley offered to meet with neighbors to resolve their issues with the sports club. This aimed to ease their concerns. The licensing sub-committee approved the license, chaired by Councillor Phil Burke. The event must end at 9:30 p.m. to reduce disturbance.
