On July 28, a meeting decided he could have 30 minutes of unescorted leave. Staff felt he was calm and settled. Jordan wanted to go to Bodmin town center but was only allowed to walk to a nearby garage.
He left the hospital at 1:25 PM and was supposed to return by 1:55 PM. Instead, he took a taxi to a location near Bude.
At 2:50 PM, staff reported him missing after searching the area. Jordan called his stepfather, expressing feelings of depression and suicidal thoughts before falling from a cliff.
Emergency services were called, but he was pronounced dead at 4:44 PM. A post-mortem showed he died from injuries consistent with a fall.
Jordan’s stepfather described him as a kind and gifted person. He had a bright future ahead but struggled with mental health issues.
In the months leading to his death, Jordan sent messages to his family about the voices he heard. His family was unaware he wanted unaccompanied leave.
