A stunning whale sighting near Newquay has left locals in awe, as one man captures the majestic creature leaping from the water multiple times.
Newquay: A man in Cornwall recently filmed a whale jumping out of the sea. It was an incredible sight! The whale was spotted breaching the water multiple times.
This happened just weeks after several humpback whale sightings were shared online. People were buzzing about a huge humpback whale seen near Newquay earlier this month.
On January 17, David Winch, a 36-year-old software developer, got the tip about the whale. He quickly grabbed his binoculars and his dog, Alfie, and headed out.
When he arrived, he thought the whale was gone. So, he started watching some birds instead. But then, he noticed something surfacing in the water.
David described how he struggled to get a good shot with his phone while holding binoculars. It was tricky with his dog moving around and the cold weather.
After about half an hour, he was ready to leave. But just as he turned to go, he saw a lot of sea foam. Then, out of nowhere, the whale leaped into the air!
He was blown away by how high it jumped and the splash it made. He wished he had his phone ready but was thrilled to see it. He decided to stick around and see if it would do it again—and it did!
David managed to capture the whale on video as it leaped out of the water at least 15 times. He felt incredibly lucky to witness such a playful display.
He later learned that whales jump for various reasons, including social communication and just for fun. This experience was unforgettable for him.
