Marazion: The Godolphin Hotel has a new management team after a tough year. The previous leaseholder struggled to pay staff on time, causing many issues.
St Aubyn Estates owned the hotel, but it was leased by Taskin Muzaffer and Tim Moore. Now, St Austell Brewery has taken over the lease, and they’re excited about the change.
Former staff shared their frustrations about late payments. Many reported not being paid on time, with some even fired without receiving their wages. This problem started in late 2023.
Staff sometimes waited weeks for their pay, leading to bounced direct debits. Around Christmas, they were told the hotel was financially struggling, and only half the staff were paid.
Some employees left but were still owed money. It was revealed that Muzaffer had a troubled past, including being disqualified from directing companies due to loan fraud.
Employees received a script to follow if customers asked about the pay issues. They were told to say they were paid, even if it was late.
One anonymous staff member felt the situation was manipulative. They said it created a toxic work environment where people felt anxious and undervalued.
St Austell Brewery is committed to improving The Godolphin. They plan to keep the current staff and enhance the venue’s reputation in the community.

The Godolphin features a dining space, ten bedrooms, and stunning views of St Michael’s Mount. The former leaseholders are no longer involved in the hotel’s operations.
St Austell Brewery will soon look for a new business partner to lead The Godolphin. They are dedicated to enhancing the hospitality experience for everyone.
