Thieves caught 150m from burgled house in East London. They admitted guilt. Jewelry found. Facing 20 months in jail.
Geani Bogonos, 42, lived on Freshwell Avenue. Vasile Filip, 26, resided on Southend Road. A court sentenced them on Monday, February 3. They admitted guilt right away at their first hearing.
Police hurried to a break-in on Mansted Gardens in Chadwell Heath, East London on Sunday evening, December 15. Police blocked paths, so the thieves ran onto the High Road. Officers chased them and caught the pair 150m from the house.
Police searched the suspects and found gold rings and gold bangles. Three gold necklaces were also recovered, all items stolen from the house.
The investigation linked the men to other break-ins, one being another house on Mansted Gardens. A safe was stolen there holding £25,000 in gold and £3,000 in cash.
Bogonos was found guilty of two burglaries, with three more crimes considered. Filip was guilty of one burglary, with three other crimes factored in too that happened in Redbridge between October and November 2024.
