Coventry and Warwick Business School will spearhead a UNESCO project focused on culture’s role in sustainable development, collaborating with local authorities for global impact
The project is part of the UNESCO Culture 2030 Indicators Initiative. It will measure culture’s role in achieving the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Councillor Naeem Akhtar expressed pride in joining this important initiative. He noted that Coventry has many cultural organizations and artists, making it a valuable partner for UNESCO.
The UK Department for Culture, Media, and Sport supports this collaboration. By participating, Coventry and Warwick Business School will help shape policies that benefit communities worldwide.
Mark Scott, a research fellow at Warwick Business School, mentioned that the project will assess various cultural impacts. This includes everything from preserving heritage to promoting education.
Being part of this UNESCO project highlights Coventry’s status as a City of Culture. It also shows Warwick Business School’s commitment to using research for global change.
