Lloyds Bank plans to close 136 branches, including one in Coventry, starting in May. The closures reflect a shift to mobile banking and online services.
The closures will begin in May and continue into next year. The Coventry branch at 531 Foleshill Road will close on November 4. Other branches in the Midlands will also shut down, but none in Warwickshire are affected.
Lloyds Bank says this decision comes as more customers prefer mobile banking over in-person visits. They assured that all employees at the closing branches will be offered jobs elsewhere in the company.
A spokesperson mentioned that over 20 million customers use their apps for easy access to banking. Customers can also use telephone banking, visit community bankers, or access any Halifax, Lloyds, or Bank of Scotland branch.
Additionally, everyday banking can be done at over 11,000 Post Office branches or in a Banking Hub.
