Perranporth: A former youth hostel in Cornwall is getting a makeover. The new owners are the folks behind The Watering Hole, a popular beachfront pub. They’re taking over the old Youth Hostel Association building at Droskyn starting in April.

The Perranzabuloe Parish Council has confirmed that Gramelan Limited won the bid after a thorough selection process. They’re excited to manage the site and keep it as a youth hostel.

Tommy Job, from Gramelan, mentioned they’ll share more details soon. The plan includes a community hub and maintaining the hostel’s overnight accommodations.

Gramelan will officially take over on April 1, 2025, with a nine-year lease at £35,000 a year. They’re also committed to supporting local community projects.

There was some chatter about the selection process, but the council has addressed those concerns. They understand how much the community cares about this site.

Tommy Job expressed enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the benefits for the community. Cllr Gaisford, chair of the parish council, is also looking forward to the new tenant keeping the beloved hostel alive and well.
