Hey, listen to this! A Bury road is closing sometimes. Angouleme Way faces closures, nights and evenings. It starts Sunday, February 23rd.

This is for the Bury Market improvements. Closures happen eastbound, Murray Road to Spring Street. They last 7 PM to 6 AM on some evenings. Road work could last up to 32 weeks.

Closures hit February 23, 24, 25, and 27. Signed routes guide drivers around the work. Use Angouleme Way (westbound) or Jubilee Way. Other options include Peel Way, Derby Way, and Rochdale Road. Allow extra travel time if driving then.

The road closes for new market canopies. Cranes lift steel frames first. Then they install the timber undersides.

The council aims to limit any disturbance. Closures avoid busy times and market days. Windy weather cancels lifting work. It all depends on the weather!

The council says it will secure the future of the market. The market dates way back to the 15th century. The market stays open during the work. Show the traders some support during this period.

Besides the outdoor market upgrades coming, a hall is planned. It will serve flexible, multiple purposes. The market area will have better public spaces too. These works should finish by summer 2026.
