Cornwall: A series of closures are coming to the A30. This is between Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross. The work is part of a big £330 million project.

The dual carriageway opened last June. But there’s still work to finish along the 8.7-mile stretch. They expect to wrap it up by this June.

They need to finish intersections, road markings, and signage. There’s also a green bridge being built at Marazanvose. It will have two decks, a footpath, and a bridleway for horse riders.

National Highways and contractor Costain will handle lane closures to finish the work. They’ll also de-trunk the old A30, turning it into the B3288/B3285 for Cornwall Council to manage.

Henver Lane to Boxheater will reopen in mid-February. Chybucca to Henver Lane will open at the end of February. But expect full closures between Carland Cross and Boxheater in March.

The Trevalso Lane underbridge is set to open at the end of February. Discussions are ongoing about the Church Lane underpass opening date.

They’ll dig and backfill a Multi Species Crossing trench on the B3288 at Treworrian Manor. Diversions will go through Newquay and Goonhavern, then down B3285 to Henver Lane. Full reopening is expected by Easter weekend.

From April 21 to May 5, the B3288 will close at night between Boxheater and Carland Cross. Work on the Carland Cross South Roundabout starts on February 3 at night.

Marazanvose green bridge and the Tolgroggan overbridge should be done by Spring 2025. The Pennycomequick underbridge is expected to open by May.

National Highways mentioned that since the new A30 dual carriageway opened, they’ve been working to complete the old A30 as the B3288/B3285.

They plan to reopen the old A30 between Chybucca and Boxheater in mid to late February 2025. To do this, they’ll extend the closure of the old A30 starting January 13 for four weeks.

During this time, local traffic will be diverted along Henver Lane to join the B3285. Residents will have 24/7 access through a manned gate. They expect to finish the rest of the work by Spring 2025.
